Housing Minister Monitors Development Rates of New Sphinx City

Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, held a meeting to follow up on the development progress of New Sphinx City, Invest-Gate reports.

The city covers an area of approximately 70,000 feddans and is one of the fourth-generation cities.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments in regularizing the situation. Attendees included officials from the Ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), and the city’s authority.

El Sherbini reviewed the presidential decrees related to the establishment of the city, as well as those concerning the addition of certain areas.

He discussed several challenges facing the implementation of development projects and noted that the current population has reached 40,000 people.

He emphasized the need to intensify efforts to issue the decrees necessary for establishing the city to combat random urban growth.

During the meeting, El Sherbini received a detailed explanation of the city’s general strategic plan, specific plans, proposed land uses, and the development status, which is divided into five sectors.

He also reviewed key road axes, nearby landmarks, the locations of entities present in the city, and the main developers in the city’s first sector.

The meeting further discussed the current situation regarding the legalization of certain areas within the city and the mechanisms in place to study the files for this process, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s decision and the directives from the central unit of the NUCA regarding policies for dealing with land in several new cities.

El Sherbini directed the development of a comprehensive plan to leverage the development axes near the city to accelerate progress, including the Abu Ghalib Bridge on the Cairo/Alexandria Desert Road. The aim is to maximize the benefits of the land adjacent to these axes, improve connectivity with other roads, and establish a timeline for the swift implementation of utility projects.
