Housing Minister Monitors Progress of Sewage, Road Development Projects in New Borg El Arab City

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar, along with ministry officials, has reviewed the progress of several projects to develop the sewage system and roads in the New Borg El Arab City, Invest-Gate reports.

These initiatives encompassed sewage treatment plants, industrial facilities, additions, the Hassan Allam Road, and various ongoing projects within the city.

El-Gazzar highlighted that infrastructure projects in New Borg El Arab City exceeded 34 projects across sectors like utilities, roads, electricity, and agriculture, alongside periodic maintenance projects, totaling a cost of nearly EGP 2.6 bn.

In a related context, Ashraf Fathi Mahmoud, Assistant to the Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority for Crisis and Disaster Development and Cities Development Sector – overseeing facilities – conducted an inspection visit to New Borg El Arab City.

Furthermore, he was accompanied by authority officials and EL Said Hamam, the head of the New Borg El Arab City Development Authority, where an overview of ongoing projects was presented at the city authority headquarters.

Mahmoud and his team inspected the industrial sewage treatment plant using oxidation ponds with a capacity of 46,000 cubic meters per day for the first phase, observing the ongoing expansion works to reach a total production capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day.

Also, housing officials inspected the triple sewage treatment station with a capacity of 115,000 cubic meters per day for the first phase, in addition to the development and expansion works of the Hassan Allam Road connecting the entrance of New Borg El Arab City to the North Coast Road, spanning 8 km with a width of seven traffic lanes in each direction and a central island of 5 meters width, including industrial works.

At the end of his tour, Mahmoud praised the real efforts on the ground and the scale of ongoing projects in the city. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to quality and engineering standards and strict compliance with accelerated timelines to complete the work and drive development within the city.

Notably, Mahmoud stressed the importance of improving road efficiency, executing it at the highest level, expediting implementation rates, and intensifying the use of treated water for irrigating central islands and green areas.
