Sherif El Sherbini, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has convened with Mohamed Al-Zamlout, the Governor of New Valley, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) to review the progress of development projects being executed by the ministry’s agencies in the governorate, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by Mamdouh Raslan, the Chairman of the Holding Company of Water and Wastewater, and Ihab Khedr, the Chairman of the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage.
El Sherbini reiterated the Ministry of Housing’s firm commitment to implementing diverse development and service projects to benefit the residents of the New Valley Governorate, which accounts for over 40% of Egypt’s total area. This aligns with the Ministry’s overarching strategy to enhance the border governorates, deliver essential services, and enhance the region’s appeal to residents.
In response, Al-Zamlout commended the Ministry of Housing and its affiliated agencies for their diligent work in executing a range of development initiatives to support the inhabitants of the New Valley Governorate. He expressed gratitude towards El Sherbini, as well as other Ministry officials, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration and coordination to ensure the timely completion of priority projects for the governorate’s residents.
El Sherbini highlighted that over the past decade under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, 16 drinking water projects (including station establishments) with a daily capacity of 95.4 thousand m³ and 8 sanitation projects have been successfully completed in the New Valley Governorate. These projects, carried out through the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage under the Ministry’s purview, amounted to a total cost of EGP 716.5 mn.
Moreover, El Sherbini noted that the Central Agency for Reconstruction, operating under the Ministry and represented by the New Valley Reconstruction Agency, has undertaken 60 development projects in the New Valley Governorate since 2014, with a total investment of approximately EGP 6.47 bn. These endeavors aim to uplift the region, enhance the standard of living for residents, and foster economic and social progress in line with the Ministry’s broader mandate to develop the border governorates and elevate the well-being of its citizens.
