Housing Minister Participates in House of Representatives’ Plenary Session to Discuss Establishment of Unified National Real Estate ID Database

Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, participated in the House of Representatives’ plenary session, to discuss a draft law establishing a unified national real estate ID database, Invest-Gate reports.

El Sherbini confirmed that the government, represented by the Ministries of Housing and Communications, is working diligently to implement digital transformation in all transactions, in conjunction with the draft law on the unified national real estate ID.

He added that the preparation of “The Official Egyptian Real Estate Platform” has already been completed, which will serve as the starting point for implementing this law.

He noted that the latest offering, the largest prepared by the Ministry of Housing, comprises approximately 400,000 units and was carried out in cooperation with the platform, aligning with procedural governance.

El Sherbini emphasized that the Ministry of Housing is preparing to implement the Unified National Real Estate ID Law. The Ministry’s latest proposal represents the first practical application of this law, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to a digital transformation strategy.

He highlighted that the benefits of the draft law on the unified national real estate ID are both direct and indirect. The first benefit is the establishment of a unified database for real estate in Egypt, which will include the status of properties, whether they have been reconciled or registered, among other details. The second benefit is the governance of real estate transactions to prevent the erosion of citizens’ and the state’s rights and to protect citizens from fraud.

Additionally, the Ministry of Housing aims to maximize the benefits from its offerings, in line with the state’s goal of exporting real estate to both expatriate Egyptians and foreign nationals, as demonstrated in the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative and the recent expansion of the “Beit Al Watan” project.

El Sherbini stated that the Ministry of Housing is in the process of establishing a unit within the Real Estate and Commercial Affairs Sector of the New Urban Communities Authority to help regulate Egypt’s real estate market. This unit will operate under the framework of the draft law on the unified national real estate ID.

He noted that there are many other positive outcomes from the draft law, which warrant an additional explanatory session on the topic at a later date.
