Housing Ministry to Develop 500 Units in Al Ruweisat Slum Area

The Minister of Housing, Utility, and Urban Communities, Moustafa Madbouly, agreed to the development of Al Ruweisat slum area, in South Sinai, through the execution of 500 residential units, for the area’s residents, Al Borsa reported.

The development plan was set in a meeting between Madbouly, South Sinai Governorate, Khaled Fouda, and a number of ministry and governorate officials, upon an appeal by the governorate officials to develop Al Ruweisat area, where reside a number of Sharm El Sheikh workers.

Fouda has demanded the provision of these residential units at a price equivalent to prices in Cairo’s slum areas, which was approved by Madbouly, who said that the 500 residential units will be developed through the Slum Development Fund, and through a direct order system to be executed.

There are restrictions to the units offered, to allow for equal opportunities, confirmed Fouda.

South Sinai is one of six governorates that were announced within the one-year slum development plan.
