Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a joint meeting at the Ministry of Petroleum’s headquarters, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between their affiliated bodies, focusing on accelerating the implementation of priority projects, particularly the delivery of natural gas to social housing and new cities, as well as coordinating efforts to meet the petroleum product needs of urban projects.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of ongoing integrated work and continuous coordination to maximize the benefits from available resources and capabilities.
They noted that this collaboration contributes to advancing projects that yield direct returns for citizens, especially those connecting natural gas to social housing and new cities. They also highlighted that recent fruitful meetings and positive coordination will serve as a foundation for further joint efforts.
The meeting addressed cooperation and integration in extending natural gas infrastructure networks in the West New Alamein City area, as well as social housing projects in Capital Gardens City, which will serve approximately 30,000 new housing units.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Petroleum’s efforts to expand the delivery of natural gas as a vital service for citizens, in coordination with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).
Additionally, the meeting discussed the plan to supply bitumen (asphalt) in the coming period through the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and its affiliated companies that produce bitumen, to meet the Ministry of Housing’s needs for this essential material for road paving.
It was agreed to hold working meetings and a field visit by officials from both sides in the coming days to follow up on the implementation of joint efforts on the ground.
Notably, the meeting was attended by Eng. Salah Abdel Kerim, CEO of EGPC, and Eng. Yassin Mohamed, Executive Managing Director of EGAS, from the Ministry of Petroleum. From the Ministry of Housing, attendees included Eng. Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of NUCA for the Utilities Sector; Eng. Kamal Bahgat, Vice President of NUCA for the Development and Construction Sector; Eng. Elham El Sergany, Assistant Supervisor of the Minister’s Office; and Eng. Ahmed Emara, Assistant Vice President of NUCA for the Utilities Sector.
