Eng. Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; Mr. Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities; and Eng. Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, held an expanded meeting at the Ministry of Housing headquarters in the New Capital to review the strategic masterplan for developing the area stretching from Sphinx International Airport to the Saqqara Pyramid. The project, which covers the Giza Pyramids Plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum, is being prepared in collaboration with Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG), Invest-Gate reports.

El-Sherbini welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of the project and its continuous follow-up by the political leadership, highlighting that the development of this area comes within the state’s objectives to enhance tourist sites and make them available for investors. He stressed that the study should cover all project standards with a clear timeline for implementation.

He also pointed out that the meeting aimed to enhance community participation and enable the private sector to contribute to shaping the project’s vision, creating a fully integrated global tourist destination that supports economic growth and sustainable development.

Fathi said that the strategic plan seeks to transform the area into one of the world’s leading cultural and tourist destinations, balancing tourism development with preserving the unique heritage of the site, in line with UNESCO requirements. He stressed the need for modern infrastructure, high-quality services, and a visitor experience that reflects Egypt’s civilization while preserving the authenticity of the archaeological area.

El-Naggar affirmed the full cooperation of all authorities to facilitate visitors’ needs, noting the significance of the area as one of the most important global cultural and tourist sites.

Representatives of WATG presented their forecasts on tourism growth in the area and the targeted investment opportunities in hospitality, retail, leisure, and cultural experiences.
