IDA Intends for 13 New Industrial Zones Across Egypt

Chairman of Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Mohamed Zalat has unveiled plans for the establishment of 13 high-quality industrial zones across Egypt for entrepreneurs and small investors, Invest-Gate reports.

The new additions will be constructed in cooperation with the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, pursuant to the highest technological and environmental standards, Zalat further revealed in an official statement on September 28.

This comes along with the expansion of some of the country’s already-underway industrial complexes during the forthcoming period, located in Alexandria, Red Sea, Beni Suef, Minya, Gharbeya, Luxor, and Sohag, the chairman noted, stressing that measures were taken to prepare integrated environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) studies for these projects.

The authority is also considering the provision of a new law relating to the facilitation procedures for granting licenses for industrial establishments, according to Zalat.

Back in 2019, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said 13 industrial complexes, with approximately 4,500 factories, are currently under construction in the Red Sea and Alexandria governorates, according to a previous statement.
