Abu Dhabi-based property developer IMKAN is revamping what was once a walled and almost secret a park in Khalidiya, formerly known as Khalidiya Ladies Park, in one of Abu Dhabi’s busiest districts to be a multi-use space and a hive of community-led activities, Invest-Gate reports
The developer signed a strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) to support sustainable growth in the capital, according to a released statement on January 28. Both sides have started to transform the existing park, located at the corner of Al Bateen Street and Zayed the First Street, into a dynamic destination for all ages – dubbed Sheikha Fatima Park.
“We are proud of IMKAN’s partnership with ADM to develop the city’s first-ever urban park. The government’s vision and insights are at the core of what we stand for and it is a great honor to be able to combine our ideas, take concepts from the drawing board, and use them as a catalyst to transform inner-city communities,” according to CEO of IMKAN Walid El-Hindi.
Construction at the park, covering an area of 46,000 square meters, is well underway with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2019. Sheikha Fatima Park will consist of an adventure zone, a section devoted to women and children, multiple retail and F&B outlets, activity areas, interactive outdoor, and educational zones. There are also 350 parking slots available, along with dedicated facilities for people of determination.
Along with its prime location and roughly 10,000 square meters of leasable space available for providing one-of-a-kind services in a picturesque setting, the park is also offering a promising opportunity for both regional and global businesses.
IMKAN is working with Al Fara’a Engineering, who was awarded the main contract for the development of the project, in addition to collaborating with Arcadis, a leading multinational cost and project management consultancy firm, and Cracknell Landscaping Designers, a globally renowned firm for its design solutions.
