Implementation of Iconic Tower Metal Structure Started: Minister

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar has witnessed the beginning of implementing the Iconic Tower’s metal structure in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), east Cairo, Invest-Gate reports.

Located at the Central Business District (CBD), the 385-meter tower will be the tallest in Africa, spanning across 240,000 square meters and consisting of 80 stories.

El Gazzar explained that China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) is implementing 20 mixed-use towers in the business zone, including the Iconic Tower, according to a press release published by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) on November 16.

Back in March, El Gazzar said during Egypt Investment Forum that the tower’s site was poured within 40 continuous hours, instead of the planned 80 hours.

He additionally pointed out the foreseeable opening of CBD’s first phase next year, according to the statement.

In a meeting with the minister, CSCEC’s officials said the latest building systems are being used in a bid to meet the set deadlines, noting that the implementation rates in some towers went way beyond the target.
