Infinix Launches #ChooseToChallenge to Celebrate Women in Tech

On the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day, digital smartphone brand Infinix launches #ChooseToChallenge initiative, which aims to celebrate career stories of women working in the tech industry, Invest-Gate reports.

Three women working at Infinix are to be selected to share their experience on the challenges they face being women in the tech industry via a #SHEPOWER video, which will be produced and released later by the company.

Through its newly-launched initiative, the company seeks to promote technology adoption in the underprivileged regions, as well as advocate for social change by fighting the discouragement of women to join the tech field.

The company has selected Shams Talaat, a marketer in Infinix Iraq, in addition to the head of Human Resources Department at Infinix Egypt to be part of that initiative.

Talaat says that being part of Infinix is a testament to the company’s commitment in supporting and empowering women in tech, especially in Iraq.

“It’s uncommon for women to work in technology companies here. Being part of the tech industry, and of Infinix, in particular, means that I am being part of its vision to encourage and enable digital transformation in my country. Currently, I’m the only female worker in the local office – but I believe that things will change as we continue to promote a safe and inclusive working environment for aspiring women who want to take a lead in the tech industry,” she added.

Meanwhile, Amani will share her experience on how she contributed to boosting the company’s brand in Cairo. “We were growing so fast that we had to onboard more people. It was difficult at the beginning, but we managed to do it anyway.” The two ladies will be joined by a design engineer at Infinix Shanghai.

Women represent 42% of the company’s total workforce, the company says in its release. It also says that it will continue to promote diversity and gender equality in the tech industry.
