Infrastructure, Housing Projects to be Launched in Damietta

A total of 45 water sewage and drinking water projects will be implemented in Damietta at a cost of EGP 1.5 billion, as well as social housing units and road developments to be completed in the governorate, reported Invest-Gate.

Three water projects at are being implemented at a cost of EGP 166 million, including a water plant expansion that will serve the Damietta, Al Zarka, and Farscor centres. The projects are expected to be completed this month, according to Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Mostafa Madbouly.

A high water storage will also be built in Kafr Saad, as part of the water station expansion, at a cost of EGP 26 million, as well as two ground water storages in Ras Bar at a cost of EGP 10 million.

The water sewage projects will also include 20 projects, including the expansion and support of three stations; one in Azbet El Lahm and the main and ancillary stations Shat Ghrbeya, at a cost of EGP 153 million. This project will be completed in 2018.

A total of 37 village are equipped with sewage services at a cost of EGP 316 million, and work has commenced in 22 other villages at a cost of EGP 555 million.

Water projects will also take place in Kafr El Manazla village at a cost of EGP 40 million, Al Ebedya village at cost of EGP 12.4 million, El Bostan village at a cost of EGP 15 million, Awlad Hamam village at cost of  EGP 12.2 million, Ezbet El Nahda Village at cost of EGP 20 million, and the Zahraa project which will serve Ezbet El Nahda village at cost of EGP 10 million. Projects are expected to conclude in 2017 and 2018.

Additionally, 17 potable water projects are set to be constructed at a cost of  EGP 1082.8 million, added Madbouly.

As for the real estate projects in Damietta, the minister confirmed the completion of 1,728 social housing units, including 567 units that were built using an Emarati grant. An additional 1,152 units were completed in the first phase of the project, distributed as follows: 736 in Shata, 192 in Ezbet el Borg, 252 in Al Zarka, 20 in Kafr El Bateekh, 48 in Al Rakbya, and 96 units construction.

There are also road projects that are being implemented, including the development of Shata Road and Al Shahebya square, as well as road intersections, at a total cost of EGP 4.9 million. The road projects will be completed in November, according to Madbouly.
