The Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) has awarded contracts to some Egyptian and foreign investors to develop six logistics and commercial zones in six different governorates, with combined investments worth EGP 30 bn, Invest-Gate reports.
The zones will be developed in Fayoum, Monufia, Sharqia, Luxor, Beheira, and Dakahlia governorates, Chairman of ITDA Ibrahim Ashmawy said in a statement by Egypt’s supply ministry on March 27.
Ashmawy stressed that the offering comes for the first time since the establishment of the authority. He highlighted that nearly 14 local, regional, and foreign companies have taken part in the bid.
The government will still offer other six new contracts in a bid to cover 63% of the country – or 17 out of 27 governorates – in less than two years, with a total area of 340 acres, the chairman revealed, adding that 11 governorates have been covered till now.
ITDA had previously awarded similar projects in five different governorates, as part of its trade development program.
