International Workplace Group (IWG), the world’s largest flexible workspace provider, is rapidly expanding its network in Egypt to meet soaring demand for coastal offices, as employees increasingly choose to live and work in seaside cities, Invest-Gate reports.
Visits to IWG centers in Alexandria, Hurghada, and ElGouna have risen by more than 500% over the past year. In response, IWG has signed 20 new locations across Egypt, including new Regus centers in ElGouna, the North Coast, and New Alamein City. This growth reflects the broader shift toward hybrid working, which allows professionals to relocate away from major cities without sacrificing career opportunities.
Research by IWG highlights how crucial flexibility has become for coastal workers. Nearly 78% said they would look for another job if forced into a long daily commute, while 63% had already switched to more flexible roles to maintain their coastal lifestyles. The study also found that 90% of employees living by the sea report higher productivity in hybrid models, with many citing improved quality of life, healthier routines, and a better work-life balance.
Mark Dixon, CEO of IWG, said: “Coastal towns are some of the most desirable places to live in Egypt, but were previously out of reach for many workers unwilling to endure long commutes. With greater workplace flexibility, more people can now live and work in these communities. We are expanding our network to cities like Alexandria and ElGouna to meet this demand and support companies looking to give their people more choice.”
IWG emphasized that businesses are increasingly turning to flexible workspaces to boost productivity, cut costs, and provide employees with the freedom to work closer to home. The company sees its growing coastal presence as both a response to changing employee needs and a driver of long-term investment in Egypt’s emerging urban centers.
