Kafr El Sheikh Sees 28 Social Housing Buildings Done: Official

Kafr El Sheikh Governor Gamal Nour El Din has presented work progress on phase III of the city’s social housing project, indicating the completion of 28 residential buildings, whereas nine others are nearing allocation, Invest-Gate reports.

The finished properties are complemented by the finalization of basic facilities such as drinking water and sewrage networks, whereas works of natural gas networks are almost complete. In addition, solar street lights have been installed on neighborhood streets, Nour El Din confirmed in a Cabinet statement on September 9.

With asphalt paving ongoing for the public site, work on 37 residential buildings and 11 mixed-use towers, comprising a total of 1,400 houses, 603 shops, and 11 administrative units, is currently underway, at a combined cost of EGP 398 mn, he said, pointing to the commencement of implementation of nine high-rise buildings last June.

During his virtual meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the official also revealed that Kafr El Sheikh is presently seeing the construction of several road projects, at a total cost of EGP 3.18 bn, which are being executed by the General Authority for North Coast Reconstruction, General Authority for Roads, Bridges, and Land Transport, among other municipal authorities.

There are plans for three mixed-use megaprojects on state-owned land across the governorate, including a 13,000-square-meter logistics zone, amid the rising demand for goods and services, Nour El Din further stated.

Two milestones are currently in the making: Kafr El Sheikh Oncology Hospital, which is being built on an area of 18,496 square meters, is intended to be the largest of its kind in the North African country; and the Nile Delta’s largest emergency hospital in Kafrelsheikh University Hospital will alleviate the burden on the neighboring clinical hospitals in Mansoura, Alexandria, and Tanta.

According to Nour El Din, the latter project is being carried out over two phases, the first of which is 99% done, at a total cost of EGP 220 mn, whilst the second is on hold and is planned to be established with investments worth EGP 800 mn, as highlighted in the statement.
