Nearly 70% of the construction works on the new Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Causeway are completed, keeping the project on track for its November 2018 opening, reported Al Bawaba.

The new causeway is being constructed at an estimated cost of $3 bn and consists of a main link, connecting the capital with the Al Subiya area, and the Doha link which links Shuwaikh port with the Doha Link motorway. The project will dramatically cut travel time between Kuwait City and the Al Subiya area.

With the main causeway featuring a 27 kilometer- marine- bridge and a total length of 36 kilometers, it is poised to become the world’s largest sea bridge and therefore a tourist attraction, according to officials.
