Lafarge Egypt, a member of LafargeHolcim Group, has been chosen by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to be the sole cement supplier for the latter’s projects being implemented at the Central Business District (CBD) in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Invest-Gate reports.
Lafarge Egypt will supply cement under a long-term partnership with China’s CSCEC for building the foundations of 20 mixed-use skyscrapers, including Iconic Tower, which is slated to become the tallest tower in Africa at a height of about 385 meters, the company said in press statement on March 7.
The building materials company will also contribute to the construction of prefabricated concrete used in the foundations of the skyscrapers.
Lafarge Egypt is involved in a range of other projects in NAC, with a wide range of high quality products, including steel fibers and various types of concrete, as well as Hydrosan Plus cement – which has been used in many major projects such as the new Suez Canal tunnels, Egypt’s Metro Project, Sumid Port, and many other projects.
