Lafarge Egypt Launches 50 Medical Convoys in 2020

Lafarge Egypt, a member of LafargeHolcim Group, has joined forces with the Egyptian Council of Pro-Peace Physicians (ECOPP), to launch 50 medical convoys across four governorates throughout 2020, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Invest-Gate reports.

From March to date, Lafarge Egypt’s philanthropic initiative benefited 23,224 patients in Giza, Qalyubia, South Sinai, and Monufia provinces, covering an array of medical subspecialties such as Pathology, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, along with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and blood sugar tests, as highlighted in a press release on November 30.

In its statement, Lafarge Egypt highlighted that such convoys have greatly contributed to the wellbeing of examined patients, providing early detection for various diseases, performing minor surgical operations, while ensuring free-of-charge medication. Meanwhile, serious medical conditions were competently handled by top specialized therapeutic centers in Cairo, the statement noted.

“Lafarge Egypt has first inaugurated its medical campaigns back in 2011, paving the way for Sustainable Development Goals, known as the Global Agenda 2030. Today, our healthcare convoys have proudly reached 441, remedying more than 268,048 patients in Delta, South Sinai, Suez, and Giza governorates,” Solomon Baumgartner Aviles, the company’s CEO, was quoted as saying.

Being a key player in the construction materials industry, Lafarge Egypt is committed to providing sustainable building materials to meet the needs of its customers, whether it be individual home builders, large construction companies, architects, or local artisans.
