Lafarge Egypt Presents Sustainable Development Strategy on World Environment Day

Lafarge Egypt, a member of Holcim Group, presents its sustainable development strategy on the 50th World Environment Day, focusing on environmental, economic, and social aspects to build a sustainable future, Invest-Gate reports.

The company achieves its strategy by preserving natural resources, using environment-friendly raw materials, managing waste sustainably, encouraging clean energy use, and focusing on health and safety to build sustainable communities. This confirms that Lafarge Egypt leads sustainable development in the building materials sector.

The company adopts an ambitious strategy reinforcing environmental sustainability, and minimizing climate change impacts, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030. It is noteworthy that Lafarge Egypt will contribute to cutting CO2 emissions by more than 20% (in comparison with the baseline of 2018 levels).

In a bid to preserve the environment, Lafarge Egypt uses alternative fuels in manufacturing, consuming over 100 trucks of waste per day, cutting CO2 emissions by 150,000 tons yearly. The company uses solar energy for quarry lighting and digital solutions for optimized logistics.

Lafarge Egypt modifies furnaces, burning, and manufacturing methods to adhere to environmental requirements and regulations.

This represents the highest investment in the sector, focusing on research, innovation, product development, and performance to improve operations, reduce environmental impact and enable a sustainable future.

Lafarge Egypt invests in research, innovation, and sustainability to provide eco-friendly products. All production lines meet the highest sustainability standards. Products include ECOPlanet cement which uses recycled materials, cutting CO2 by 50-60%, and ECOPact concrete with a 30-40% lower carbon footprint than standard concrete.

Ambitious plans will increase the percentage of innovative eco-friendly building materials for sustainable cities and a circular economy. Lafarge Egypt provided materials for landmark projects like the Cairo Metro and the Iconic Tower.
