Legrand Expands Egypt Operations with New Facility, Product Range

Legrand is expanding its operations in Egypt with a new integrated services center and plans to introduce a wider range of products, Invest-Gate reports.

The leading French electrical and digital infrastructure company opens INNOVAL Egypt, providing training, technical support, and design services.

Benoît Coquart, Legrand’s global CEO, states the expansion plans align with Legrand’s global ambitions to strengthen its positions in digital infrastructure and smart electrical devices.

The company’s growth will come from expanding in energy efficiency, data centers, and connected products, which now make up a third of its business.

Nicolas Hobeilah, the Egypt managing director, says 45% of production at Legrand’s factory in Sadat City currently exports to Europe and Africa. The company aims to reduce supply gaps and provide more competitive pricing locally by expanding the factory and product range.

Legrand plans to add locally manufactured electric control panels under the BTicino brand in the second half of 2023. The company will also increase partnerships with panel builders to install Legrand products and improve customer safety and security.

Furthermore, Coquart notes Legrand achieved its CSR goals for 2022, including reducing CO2 emissions by 15% and increasing the percentage of women in management to 28.5%.

Legrand has operated in Egypt for over 50 years and built its first African factory there almost 4 decades ago. The company currently employs 600 people, including 25% women.
