Madbouly Confirms Implementation of 132,000 Units Worth EGP 73 Bn

Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, declares that 132,000 housing units are implemented in Alexandria and Beheira, with a cost of EGP 73 bn, Invest-Gate reports.

This came on the sidelines of the inspection tour of President Abdelfattah El-Sisi to various development and services projects, in addition to the activities of the National Youth Conference in Borg Al-Arab, according to the statement issued on June 14, 2023.

Madbouly adds that the most important project is related to the development of insecure areas, as he showcased many developed areas in Alexandria, including Gheit Al-Enab which was transformed into Bashayer Al-Khair. The developed area witnessed the implementation of 84,000 units, for the citizens lived in insecure areas.

Moreover, Madbouly points out that many properties in Alexandria, as well as the slums, became a danger. Therefore, a committee was formed, including all state agencies, to develop urgent solutions for dealing with them. Alternatives could be suggested either restoration of these slum units, or giving them alternative units to live in.

Madbouly explained that previously, there have not been alternative property projects or urban expansion as alternatives for young people in Alexandria. That’s why, the state is executing huge projects, including the Masharef city project in Al-Amriya.

This project witnesses the implementation of about 80,000 various housing units, to suit all the needs of families at all levels, Madbouly continues.

During his statement, Madbouly presented other projects such as the Raya suburb city project, which witnesses the implementation of 23,000 housing units, and the Sawary project, which also includes a large number of units that serve various levels.

Also, the “Bashayer Al-Khair 4” project that has been implemented in the new Rashid city, with thousands of housing units for young people in the two governorates, as an alternative to slums.

Besides, Madbouly addresses infrastructure projects and utilities, pointing out that EGP 26 bn was pumped into these projects in the two governorates. Regarding water projects, the quality of this service and coverage of unplanned areas were improved.

Yet the boom was the waste water sector, as the coverage rate in Beheira governorate was 28% in 2014, and now it becomes 40%, and with the completion of the Hayah Karima initiative, it is expected to reach 100%.

It is worth noting that due to climatic changes, Alexandria suffered over the past three to four years from heavy rains, and the government immediately established rainwater drainage networks for Alexandria that are completely separate from the sewage networks.
