Madinet Masr Celebrates 2024 Orange Corners Egypt Graduates, Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in Delta and Upper Egypt

Madinet Masr (EGX: MASR.CA), one of Egypt’s leading urban community developers, celebrated the graduation of the 2024 cohort of the Orange Corners Egypt Programme, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, Invest-Gate reports.

The programme, an initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands implemented with the support of Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, has supported more than 130 startups this year, including 100 across Delta governorates and 30 in Upper Egypt. It equips aspiring entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and funding to transform ideas into scalable businesses, particularly in agriculture, creative industries, waste management, and climate-smart solutions.

Eng. Abdallah Sallam, President and CEO of Madinet Masr, said the company views youth as “the driving force behind inclusive and sustainable development” and stressed the importance of investing in people alongside real estate. “Our role extends to creating a dynamic platform that empowers entrepreneurs across the Delta and Upper Egypt with the tools, training, and mentorship to transform bold ideas into startups that deliver real impact and create jobs,” he added.

H.E. Peter Mollema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Egypt, highlighted the shared vision between the two countries: “At the heart of our partnership is a belief in the power of youth and entrepreneurship as drivers of inclusive economic growth. Through Orange Corners, we are proud to support young Egyptians, especially women, building innovative businesses for a sustainable and prosperous future.”

Orange Corners Egypt reports more than 50% female participation, directly supporting Egypt Vision 2030 and UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality. Each startup is expected to generate two to five jobs, with more than 3,000 projected jobs across all cohorts. Graduating startups also received grants of EUR 4,000 from the Orange Corners Innovation Fund to scale their businesses.

Launched in Egypt in 2021, Orange Corners is a global initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, implemented locally by Outreach Egypt with support from private-sector partners including Madinet Masr.
