Magdi Yacoub Heart Center to be Built by Orascom Construction

Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation Board announces the selection of Orascom Construction to build the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in the 6th of October City in Cairo, Invest-Gate reports.

The 300-bed specialized cardiac center is to be built on 27 acres with a total land capacity of 36.5 acres, making it the largest specialized facility for cardiovascular treatment and research in the region.

Sir Magdi Yacoub states, “the decision to award the contract of Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center- Cairo to OC represents a milestone in the long road of guaranteeing excellence, at every level. At long last, the dream of creating an expanded world class cardiovascular center, embodying the spirit of the Aswan Heart Center, dedicated to serve humanity, Science and Medicine, without discrimination, is becoming a reality. This is the direct result of the efforts of a large team of people who strongly believe in the cause, with the enthusiastic support of the Egyptian, regional, and global international community. I am honored and humbled to be part of this endeavor.”

The Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center upon completion offers free-of-charge cardiovascular services and has a patient capacity of over 120,000 annually. It is a host of five operating rooms and five catherization laboratories including a hybrid room, a state-of-the-art imaging centre, a world-class 5,000 sqm research and innovation laboratories, a 4,000 sqm education and training facility, as well as an Emergency Department.
