Majid Al Futtaim Inaugurates Small-Format Carrefour in Al Burouj Complex

Majid Al Futtaim, which operates Carrefour stores in Egypt, has opened a compact Carrefour location in the Al Burouj complex in eastern Cairo, Invest-Gate reports.

The 200-sqm store aims to provide quick and easy shopping for residents through a focused assortment of around 1,000 products, including groceries, fresh foods, and household essentials.

Majid Al Futtaim said the smaller format is designed to meet various customer needs in the community through competitive pricing and a fast shopping experience.

The opening reflects the retailer’s ongoing expansion plans across Egypt and commitment to community service, Regional Director Philippe Pigeon commented. Majid Al Futtaim, a major partner in Egypt’s retail sector since entering the market, remains focused on growing its store network and creating local jobs to support the economy, he said.

Ahmed Aref, CEO of property firm Capital Group Properties, which developed the Al Burouj project, said signing strategic partnerships with leading international brands is key to providing an ideal lifestyle for families.

Majid Al Futtaim currently operates 65 Carrefour locations in various formats across Egypt. Around 85% of assortments feature Egyptian products and goods, according to the Emirati Company.

The news comes as retailers adapt store strategies to changing consumer habits. Majid Al Futtaim’s smaller-store initiative could help boost the brand’s community presence as it seeks to drive sales through new formats.
