Majid Al Futtaim has announced plans to open its My City Center Masdar shopping mall in Abu Dhabi on April 24, Trade Arabia reports.
The commercial and entertainment development marks the company’s first ever lifestyle destination in Abu Dhabi, while being Al Futtaim’s 25th shopping mall in the region.
According to the Bahraini news agency, the project will span across 18,500 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA), while featuring more than 70 outlets, including Carrefour Hypermarket’s 100th store in the UAE.
In line with Majid Al Futtaim’s sustainability strategy, the eco-friendly project is employing resource- and energy-efficient procedures and continuing to adopt sustainable practices, including intents to recycle most operational waste and efficiently designed shops.
Back in February, CEO of Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Ghaith Shocair said, “My City Centre Masdar demonstrates the delivery of our strategy to create retail destinations that address the specific needs of the communities we serve, while underscoring Majid Al Futtaim’s sustainability focus by engaging with them to promote an eco-friendlier lifestyle.”
