West Cairo’s Mall of Arabia, one of the commercial projects built by Marakez for Real Estate Investment, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Fawaz Alhokair Group, will host the world’s leading 2019/20 CIB Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour Finals for the second year in a row, taking place from September 28 to October 3, Invest-Gate reports.
All precautionary COVID-19 protocols have been established for the global event, which will take place at “The Park,” situated within Mall of Arabia’s The Expansion, featuring seating for 1,000 spectators per each match. Attendees, along with players, will be tested for the virus before travelling/attending the six-day tournment, with strict measures in place at all venues to ensure the safety of participants, Marakez confirmed in a press release on September 24.
Commenting on the news, Marakez CEO Basil Ramzy stated, “We are happy to support the squash world tour finals, bring the community together to cheer for the best local and international talents of squash in a safe, friendly, and green environment. Our aim for The Park is to become the heart and soul of west Cairo’s community.”
The Park is the first-of-its-kind eight-acre outdoor space designed to host a wide variety of activities based on four main pillars, catering to the various needs of all family members: entertainment, fitness, sports, as well as, food and beverage (F&B).
It was selected as the host venue for the 2018/19 CIB Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour Finals, which took place from June 9 to 14 2019, concluding with Egypt’s champions Raneem El Welily and Karim Abdel Gawad collecting the final titles.
Mall of Arabia’s The Expansion won the “Best Built Commercial Project” at the 2019 Cityscape Egypt Awards Ceremony; a testament to Marakez’s world-class standards and a boost to its portfolio of venues as a premier destination for events, health and wellness activities, dining options, and family entertainment.
