Marsa Matrouh Witnesses 14 Development Projects for EGP 2.85 bn

Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, states that 14 development projects are executed and underway in Matrouh Governorate at the cost of EGP 2.85 bn, Invest-Gate reports.

These projects are implemented by the Central Agency for Reconstruction, through the North West Coast Reconstruction Authority; this comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to achieve the sustainable development plan.

In this regard, Mahmoud Nassar, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, says that 83-km sub roads in east Marsa Matrouh. The project includes 31 development roads to serve 50 bedouin communities.

In a related context, in FY 2021/22, five other development projects are to be completed, with a length of about 240 km, and at EGP 265 mn, Nassar confirms, adding that the upgrading works of the Siwa city’s entrance are being implemented, with a length of 7.6 km, as well as the construction of the first and second sectors of Siwa-Matrouh dual-road, with a length of 100 km.

Additionally, Nassar points out that during the last FY 2020/21, a project to combat desertification in Marsa Matrouh was implemented at an investment cost of EGP 31 mn.

Moreover, this project has included 1,203 water storage wells, 201 dam buildings, 211 sewage wells, and maintenance of 31 Romania wells.

It is worth mentioning that the construction of the Bedouin Village project has been completed, in the Bahei El-Din area of Siwa Oasis, through the construction of 13 houses. Besides, it is planned to establish another bedouin village during the current FY 2021/22, in Sidi Barani, with a total of 20 homes.
