Menoufia Sees Several Potable Water and Sanitation Projects

Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, states that 36 drinking water and sanitation projects are being implemented in Menoufia, Invest-Gate reports.

Moreover, dozens of projects have been implemented in Menoufia to serve rural areas with sanitation, through the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage.

In this regard, Ehab Khader, chairman of the National Authority for Drinking Water and sewage, explains that the total number of rural areas served by sanitation in Menoufia is 157 rural areas. Besides, the sewage service has been completed in two areas. These areas account for 50.2 % of the total rural areas in the governorate with a population of 1.45 mn.

Khader indicates that sewage services are being connected to 86 rural areas including areas of the presidential initiative “Hayah Karima” with 27.1% of the rural areas, inhabited by 790,000 people, as 25.5% of the population of rural areas. Further, 44 rural areas being implemented by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, with 13.9%, inhabited by 550,000 people, as 17.7% of the rural population.

Also, 28 rural areas are in the plan of the Water Company and the World Bank, with 8.8%, and inhabited by 310,000 people, as 10% of the rural population.
