MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, the master developer behind Mostakbal City and MADA in East Cairo, has announced a donation of EGP 15 mn to Ain Shams University Medical City and Demerdash Hospital, Invest-Gate reports.
The donation includes EGP 9 mn allocated for the establishment of a specialized bone marrow transplant unit for children at Ain Shams Medical City. Bone marrow transplants are critical procedures requiring advanced medical infrastructure and high-quality healthcare services. Additionally, EGP 6 mn will be used to upgrade radiology equipment at Demerdash Hospital, enhancing service efficiency and ensuring continued medical care for millions of patients annually.
Eng. Ayman Elkousey, Managing Director and CEO of MIDAR, emphasized the company’s dedication to community development, particularly in the healthcare sector, alongside its leading role in developing integrated residential cities in Egypt. “As a major urban developer, we recognize our responsibility in contributing to societal growth, especially in the medical field, which directly impacts the lives of Egyptians,” Elkousey stated.
Dr. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, expressed gratitude for MIDAR’s ongoing support. He highlighted that the company’s total contributions to Ain Shams Medical City have reached approximately EGP 17 mn over the past two years. This includes a EGP 2 mn donation in 2023 to furnish and equip the ophthalmology department at Demerdash Surgical Hospital, alongside the latest EGP 15 mn donation in 2024.
The bone marrow transplant unit, part of a six-room facility, is set to be inaugurated in 2025 to provide life-saving treatments for children suffering from leukemia and other blood disorders. The enhanced radiology department at Demerdash Hospital will also significantly improve diagnostic capabilities, ensuring high-quality care for patients.
This initiative reflects MIDAR’s long-term commitment to supporting Egypt’s healthcare sector, reinforcing its role as a socially responsible company contributing to both urban and human development.
