MIH to Use Medtronic’s Design of Portable Ventilators

The Egyptian Metallurgical Industries Holding Company (MIH) will be using the usage of Medtronic medical device company’s design for portable ventilators, the Puritan Bennett (PB) 560, Cairo Scene reports.

This followed Medtronic’s public release of the full design specifications, while deciding to produce manuals, design documents, and software code for one of its portable ventilators, the Puritan Bennett (PB) 560.

For his part, MIH Chairman Medhat Nafei first announced in a Facebook post on March 31 a call for biomedical engineers to use the company’s factories. He also referred to the potential of automotive factories, following suit of international carmakers – including General Motors, Ford and Tesla – which step up to meet growing demand.

Nafei also revealed that the company has established a task force to have the final product available in two weeks, all without any profit to the company.
