Military Production, Housing Ministers Sign Protocol for New Projects

Minister of Military Production Mohamed El Assar and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Social Development Mostafa Madbouly have signed on June 6 a cooperation protocol to implement national and developmental projects in Egypt, Invest-Gate reports.

El Assar says in an official statement released on June 6 that the protocol aims at using the potential of both ministries to carry out infrastructure and construction projects, including establishing water and sewage treatment stations.

Moreover, El Assar reveals that the protocol also aims to make use of surplus productive capacities, available to military production companies, to contribute to the implementation of such national projects.

In the statement, Madbouly hailed the cooperation protocol, saying that it will give momentum to national projects and reduce imports, and thus save hard currency and enhance the national economy.

On June 7,  President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appointed Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, as the new prime minister and delegated him to form the new government. This came two days after Egypt’s cabinet, including Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, resigned to pave the way for the appointment of a new cabinet following El-Sisi’s re-election as the head of state for a second term until 2022.
