Minister of Housing Reviews Progress and Latest Updates on the Central Business District in the New Capital

Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held an extensive meeting to follow up on the latest developments of the Central Business District project in the New Capital. The meeting was attended by Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for Urban Communities, ministry officials, the New Urban Communities Authority, the Chinese executing company “CSCEC,” and project consultants,, Invest-Gate reports.

Monitoring the Implementation of Various Project Components

Eng. Randa El-Menshawy began the meeting by emphasizing that the Central Business District project in the New Capital is one of the major national projects reflecting the scale of urban development Egypt is witnessing.

She noted that the ministry works on periodically monitoring the implementation of the project’s various components to ensure integration between its different elements and achieve the highest operational efficiency upon completion. This aims to attract investments and enhance the New Capital’s position as a center for business and services.

The meeting addressed the progress of civil protection works in the residential and administrative towers, the status of ongoing finishing works in the iconic tower and the Crescent towers, as well as the status of general site coordination and external works in the Central Business District in the New Capital, in addition to the status of operations and remaining finishing works.

Components of the Central Business District and the Iconic Tower

The meeting also reviewed the implementation status of various components of the Central Business District in the New Capital, which includes a group of mixed-use towers divided into towers with (administrative – office – commercial – service) activities, with total areas of 806,000 m², and five residential towers containing approximately 1,700 fully finished residential units, with total areas of 102,000 m² and heights ranging from 152 to 200 meters. This is in addition to the Crescent towers (consisting of 4 connected towers) with activities including (hotel and hotel units and public services – recreational services – commercial).

In addition, the Iconic Tower, the tallest tower in Africa with a height of approximately 400 meters, includes multiple activities (hotel – commercial – administrative), hosting an international hotel operating for the first time in Egypt and Africa, hotel and administrative units, and a commercial area offering various services (business – recreational – commercial – hotel), in addition to 40 floors of multi-purpose administrative offices, 10 floors of hotel apartments totaling 52 units, and 30 hotel floors with a total of 183 rooms, with total areas of 266,000 m².

In this regard, the Minister of Housing directed the acceleration of remaining works and completion of all observations, speeding up execution rates to finish the project as soon as possible while achieving the defined targets, establishing a clear vision for final deliveries, in addition to completing operations and maintenance procedures with the highest quality standards.
