Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of work on a number of utilities and road projects in Badr City, in addition to projects related to sewage lifting stations and force mains, as well as the results of campaigns to remove encroachments and street obstructions across the city, Invest-Gate reports.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy emphasized the necessity of adhering to the specified timelines and completing the works according to the highest technical quality standards, in order to accelerate the entry of these projects into service and contribute directly to improving the city’s infrastructure.
The minister also stressed the importance of intensifying follow-up and preventive maintenance works for the stations, and ensuring the readiness of pumps and equipment to maintain the efficiency of the sewage system, in line with the rapid urban expansion witnessed in Badr City, thereby achieving sustainability in services and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
Monitoring Wastewater Stations and Enhancing Network Efficiency
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy reviewed a report on the outcomes of field inspections conducted by officials of the New Urban Communities Authority and the Badr City Authority. The report covered projects at the sewage treatment stations (1) and (4A) in Badr City, where Station (4A) is witnessing intensive work across various stages of implementation, in addition to Sewage Station (1), which is considered one of the city’s vital stations serving a large number of residential areas in Badr City.
A water lifting station for irrigating green spaces is also being implemented with the aim of improving the pressure of treated irrigation water and ensuring its efficient delivery to the targeted areas. The project comes within the framework of efforts to support the irrigation system and preserve green spaces in urban areas, contributing to enhancing the city’s aesthetic appearance and ensuring the sustainability of green coverage within new residential communities.
The water lifting station consists of three main pumps with a discharge capacity of up to 12,000 cubic meters per day.
In addition, Sewage Lifting Station No. (8) is being implemented with a design capacity of 110,000 cubic meters per day as a first phase for lifting domestic wastewater. The project is considered one of the key strategic projects supporting the city’s sewage system and represents a pivotal step in enhancing the efficiency of wastewater conveyance and treatment while protecting the environment, in line with comprehensive development plans.
The 1200 mm diameter force main has already been completed at a rate of 100% within the first phase, to achieve maximum benefit from the design capacity of Lifting Station No. (8).
Developing the Road Network and Upgrading Main Arteries
With regard to road projects, work continues on implementing a comprehensive plan to develop the main and internal roads in Badr City. The plan includes milling and full resurfacing works, complete replacement of deteriorated sections, and the use of improved asphalt capable of withstanding heavy loads and high temperatures.
Work has been intensified and teams have been distributed across several axes simultaneously to ensure the rapid completion of works without disrupting traffic flow.
This is in addition to a thorough review of the levels of sewer manholes and utility chambers to ensure the sustainability of the works and enhance infrastructure efficiency.
The works also include continuing asphalt layering on the road leading to the “New Administrative Capital Workers’ Housing” (295 buildings), following the completion of utility works and leveling, in accordance with approved technical and engineering specifications.
Additionally, efficiency-upgrading and development works are underway on Badr Police Station Street, which is considered one of the main arteries serving a wide segment of citizens and service facilities and experiences heavy traffic throughout the day, prompting urgent intervention to fully upgrade it.
Campaigns to Remove Encroachments and Street Obstructions
As part of efforts to address all forms of encroachments and street obstructions, the Badr City Authority launched campaigns to remove encroachments and illegal occupations in several areas through an extensive field operation aimed at eliminating random and unregulated activities that obstruct citizens’ movement and distort the city’s urban appearance.
