Minister of Housing Reviews Work Files of the General Authority for construction and Housing Cooperatives and Discusses Ways to Enhance Its Role

Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with Major General Waleed El-Baroudi, Chairman of The General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives, to review the authority’s work files and discuss ways to enhance its role during the coming period, Invest-Gate reports.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for Urban Communities, along with officials from the Ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the General Authority for Housing and Building Cooperatives.

The Importance of Cooperative Housing and Its Role in Urban Development

At the beginning of the meeting, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy emphasized the significant role played by The General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives in providing suitable housing for citizens.

She stressed the importance of continuing efforts to develop the cooperative housing system and strengthen its contribution to implementing the state’s urban development plans, in a manner that supports the establishment of integrated urban communities that meet citizens’ needs.

During the meeting, the executive status of the housing units implemented by the authority was reviewed, revealing that the total number of units executed through the authority reached approximately 212,000 housing units, in addition to nearly 1.2 million housing units implemented by cooperative housing associations under the authority’s supervision.

The authority has also provided the necessary land plots for cooperative housing associations in most new cities.

Reviewing the Authority’s Projects and Future Work Plans

The meeting also addressed the authority’s main areas of work, which include supervision and inspection of all cooperative housing associations, establishing modern cooperative housing complexes in new cities, implementing housing units for associations across various governorates, and providing commercial shops and service lands. In addition, the authority is carrying out cooperative and investment projects while supporting cooperative housing units, establishing productive cooperative communities with economic potential, and activating Egypt’s regional and international role in the field of cooperatives through the exchange of expertise with successful global experiences.

The meeting further reviewed the real estate and infrastructure implementation status of a number of the authority’s projects, including projects in New Cairo, 6th of October City, , 10th of Ramadan City, Borg El Arab, New Damietta, and other developments.

The services already implemented, as well as the services and projects currently being offered, were also reviewed, in addition to land plots designated for future service projects.

The discussion also covered the key work requirements for the upcoming period, with the aim of strengthening the authority’s role in supporting the cooperative housing sector and achieving comprehensive urban development goals.
