The next few weeks will see a large number of sanitation and drinking water projects delivered in several governorates, said Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, reported Invest Gate.
The most important projects nearing completion include the Meet Khamis water station and the Minya Alnasr water station, both in Dakahlia governorate, added Madbouly.
The Meet Khamis water station’s capacity will be doubled to 206,000 cubic meters per day, from the initial 103,000 cubic meters per day, to serve 600,000 people. The Minya Alnasr water station will serve 300,000 people with a daily capacity of 103,000 cubic meters per day.
“Within weeks, the Giza governorate will have new water plants in operation,” said Madbouly. “The most important are Berk Elkhayam, Elessily, and the preliminary expansion to Alayat and Alsaf water station, at a cost of EGP 540 million, to serve 320,000 people at a daily capacity of 320,000 cubic meters.”
Other governorates will soon have new projects in service, including Gharbia, Beheira, Sharqeya, Ismailia, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, and Qena.
Moreover, Madbouly discussed with officials from utilities and construction companies a number of important projects, most notably the completion of the social housing project facilities in Kafr El-Sheikh, Ismailia and Port Said, and Dakahlia, which are expected to serve more than 650 apartment building for 13,000 housing units. Madbouly highlighted the need to follow up on the daily implementation of the projects, and to fast-track schedules for entry into service in the upcoming weeks.
