NAC Nominated for Three Global Awards for Smart, Sustainable Communities in 2024

Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), took part in the inauguration of the Livcom Forum on Smart and Livable Cities, Invest-Gate reports.

Angela Kane, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, along with delegates from various participating foreign nations and ACUD leaders, attended the event.

During the forum, Abbas disclosed that ACUD has been nominated for three prestigious awards by the institution for smart and sustainable communities in 2024: the Integrated City Award, the Best Project Award, and the Technology and Solutions Award.

The selection of ACUD for these accolades came after careful consideration among a distinguished group of major real estate development companies worldwide.

Abbas elaborated on the criteria used by the institution to grant awards, which encompass aspects such as the quality and design of public spaces and landscapes, the promotion of arts, culture, and local heritage, environmental conservation, the implementation of green economic systems, as well as the utilization of sustainable administrative and planning practices. These are principles that ACUD actively integrates into the development of the New Administrative Capital (NAC), prompting their sponsorship of the event.

He emphasized ACUD’s commitment to steering sustainable and urban development within the NAC and all its associated projects in collaboration with all stakeholders.

Acknowledging the significance of engaging diverse parties in the development process—including civil society, the private sector, youth, and women—as fundamental for achieving comprehensive and equitable development, Abbas highlighted the ongoing implementation of the first Zero Carbon real estate project in the NAC.
