NBA Africa and MAVEN Developments, a leading real estate development company in Egypt, announced a multiyear partnership designating MAVEN Developments as an Official Partner of NBA Africa in Egypt, Invest-Gate reports.
The collaboration will kick off with an exciting “NBA Weekend” event on Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19, at Cali Coast Ras El Hekma in Egypt’s North Coast. This interactive basketball and lifestyle event will feature an NBA 3X (three-on-three) basketball tournament, live music performances, and a Jr. NBA clinic for 100 local youth on both days.
Furthermore, later this year, MAVEN Developments and NBA Africa will launch a Jr. NBA West Cairo League for youth aged 12-16 and organize an elite player development camp in Egypt for youth aged 16 and under.
The announcement occurred today in Cairo. Mohamed Abdel-Motaleb Soliman, Vice President and Head of NBA Egypt, and Mo Rushdy, Co-Founder and Board Member of MAVEN Developments.
Soliman expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with MAVEN Developments as we continue to foster the growth of basketball at the grassroots level in Egypt. MAVEN shares our commitment to inspire the next generation of young people to become better leaders and teammates on the court and in their communities.”
Rushdy highlighted MAVEN Developments’ mission, saying, “Each of our MAVEN projects aims to empower our residents and help them achieve their ambitions and aspirations. We strongly believe that life is shaped by meaningful moments, and we constantly strive to create value in areas that matter, such as providing more opportunities for Egyptian youth to engage in sports. We eagerly anticipate the launch of our collaboration with the NBA this weekend.”
Moreover, this partnership builds upon the NBA’s previous endeavors in Cairo, including the last two phases of the Basketball Africa League Nile Conference, Jr. NBA clinics for local youth, the 18th edition of the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa camp, and the establishment of the NBA Egypt office earlier this year. MAVEN Developments also served as the title sponsor of the BWB Africa 2022 camp awards.
Notably, the Jr. NBA program, the league’s global youth basketball initiative for boys and girls, focuses on teaching fundamental skills and core values such as teamwork, respect, determination, and community at the grassroots level. It aims to enhance the youth basketball experience for players, coaches, and parents. Currently implemented in 16 African countries, the Jr. NBA program continues to expand its reach across the continent.
