Preparations for the upcoming winter months in New Assuit is well underway, as part of the state’s directives to protect citizens and preserve investments and real estate wealth amid the season’s heavy rains and flash floods, Invest-Gate reports.
Head of New Assiut City Development Authority Gehan Ammar emphasized the completion of maintenance work for equipment, drainage stations, and facilities to ensure rapid intervention in case of emergency, as highlighted in a ministerial statement on October 11.
Ammar also stressed the regular cleansing of rain drainage networks, with cesspools being placed in areas of water accumulation. In addition, traffic movement would be diverted to prevent traffic congestion during torrential rains.
In late September, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar called on officials and mayors of new cities, in particular, to study non-traditional solutions to eliminate rain accumulations at some critical points, according to an earlier statement.
Officials in the subsidiaries of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) are coordinating with electricity distribution companies, civil defense, and ambulance authorities regarding these counter-rain plans, El Gazzar stated back then.
