Merely 66 fully-finished villas overlooking the Nile River, nestled within New Aswan’s in-progress 6,000-meter-long tourist strip, have been delivered, with 84 others in the pipeline for handover before July 2021, Invest-Gate reports.
Work is 65% complete on the above villas, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar indicated during an inspection visit on December 21, noting that the tourist promenade is almost 97% done for finalization by the end of next March.
As part of the tour, the minister followed up on the construction of the 5.5-acre open theater underway across New Aswan’s tourist strip, amongst other recreational projects, confirming the conclusion of 30% of work on-site.
Upon completion, the theater will accommodate a capacity of 3,000 spectators, featuring a panoramic view of the Nile River, connected to the beach park via a pedestrian bridge, according to El Gazzar.
Egypt has been gearing for the opening of New Aswan for long enough. In September 2019, the housing ministry had handed over the first batch of social housing units in New Aswan to beneficiaries, presenting 1,506 out of the total 3,951 apartments allocated to low-income citizens, as highlighted in a previous ministerial statement.
