Egypt has pumped investments worth EGP 1.2 bn in New Aswan since 2014 up to date, compared to a total of EGP 750 mn beforetime, Invest-Gate reports.
Established under presidential decree no. 96/1999 on an area of 3,900 acres, New Aswan has so far seen 3,120 social housing units finalized, in addition to another 3,600 underway, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development Assem El Gazzar said in a ministerial statement on August 14.
The implementation of 1,160 and 840 residential units is slated for completion in December 2019 and June 2020, respectively, El Gazzar revealed. He added that 66 villas are 35% finished, as part of the first phase of New Aswan’s tourist strip, whereas another 463 villas are under development under the new city’s urgent phase.
Additionally, the minister pointed out that 1,208 residential plots have been offered in the new city for social and distinguished housing, as well as, Beit El Watan housing project.
Further, Head of New Aswan City Authority Ahmed Rashad noted that four nurseries are established as well as three playgrounds and two schools. Other service projects include the finishing of Azhar College for Girls and New Aswan Club, whilst a 158-bed hospital, an urban health center, a fire station, a complex for Azharite institutions, and eight mini-shops are under development.
This comes amid the ongoing construction of infrastructure projects in New Aswan, including potable water, sanitation, agriculture, electricity, roads, among others.
