New Beni Suef Witnesses EGP 2.2 bn Infrastructure Development Projects

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar has stated that the total investment spent in the plan to develop, rehabilitate, and promote the efficiency of the city’s infrastructure, since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi took over in 2014 until now, amounted to EGP 2.2 bn, Invest-Gate reports.

The minister highlights that this plan was put after increasing the area allocated for the planned development to 25,000 acres, up from 5,000 acres.

Essam Badawi, head of New Beni Suef Development Authority points out that the development and rehabilitation plan is based on three axes. The first one includes the completion and rehabilitation of potable water and treatment plants. The second axis is about supplying seven new residential neighborhoods with utilities and infrastructure, with an investment cost of EGP 827 mn.

The third axis contains the rehabilitation and development of the electricity and road networks in the old residential neighborhoods.

It is worth remarking that New Beni Suef is a second-generation city, developed on an area of 25,135.8 acres. Additionally, the minister notes that the city’s development plan aims to boost the investment opportunities, occupancy rate, and reach the maximum usage of treated water.
