Assistant Vice-Chairman of New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) Gamal Talaat said the upgrading of New Cairo’s Obour Axis is underway, which connects 90 Road to Ain Sokhna Road, with investments worth EGP 170 mn, Invest-Gate reports.
Works, which are 42% complete, involve the addition of an extra lane in each direction to become a four-lane road, Talaat noted in a ministerial statement on January 4, underlining that Obour Axis is already 8.5 kilometers in length.
The refinement of this mainline highway is indispensable, particularly since it serves 1,400 factories and 40,000 residential units across different development projects, the official further added.
This came during Talaat’s inspection tour to New Cairo, where he also followed up on the eight-kilometer Saad Zaghloul Road, which is being renovated at a total cost of EGP 105 mn. Besides, he reviewed the EGP 351 mn revamping works of Ain Sokhna Road, which extends over 17 kilometers long.
