In its ongoing efforts to provide exceptional housing opportunities for Egyptians living abroad and to strengthen their connections to their homeland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates has launched a new initiative titled “Your Home in Egypt” in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Invest-Gate reports.
Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, stated that this initiative stems from the endeavors of Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, and the response from Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. The goal is to facilitate access to housing units that meet the needs of Egyptians abroad, allowing payments to be made in foreign currencies. This approach not only benefits Egyptians living abroad but also contributes to increasing the country’s foreign currency resources.
The Deputy Minister added that the groundwork for this initiative began during the “Conference of Egyptians Abroad,” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last August, where the Minister of Housing participated. During this conference, a commitment was made to respond to the proposal from the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding a new initiative that would consider suitable specifications for expatriates and avoid the challenges faced by some previous initiatives and projects.
In closing his statement, the Deputy Minister indicated that a website for reservations related to this initiative would be launched in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Housing, and Communications. Through this platform, participants can choose their desired units, with allocation based on the order of reservations. The reservation window will remain open for one month following the completion of these procedures. Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and should have had a bank account in their country of residence abroad for at least six months. Furthermore, each Egyptian abroad will be allowed to reserve a maximum of two units.
