New Plan To Upgrade Dilapidated Houses, Bahrain

Manama’s city council passed on March 22 a suggestion to the Bahraini parliament to establish a monetary fund for upgrading ageing and cracked buildings, Al-Ufuq News reports.

The council had based their decision on the leadership’s strategy to restore dilapidated houses.

The decision, which activated the partnership between the public and private sectors in the urban development process, was also taken due to the tight state budget.

This comes as part of efforts aimed at providing healthy and adequate housing for citizens, improving the living standards of low-income families and assisting in the upgrading of old areas.
