The Ministry of Transport is implementing new road networks connecting the East and West of the Nile, said Minister of Transport Galal Saeed, Amwal Al Ghad reported.

The roads include the ring road in Northern Aswan, dubbed the “Kalabsha Axis”. Total investments amount to EGP 650 million, according to Al Watan News.

The Kalabsha Axis will link the horizontal road network and is expected to facilitate the creation of new industrial and urban communities, as well as agriculture in areas that were difficult to access.

Preliminary construction work will include a bridge over the Nile, as well as six tunnels of 23 kilometers in length and 21 meters in width. Approximately 55% of the construction work has been completed.
