The New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) is developing 116,000 residential units in 6th of October City as part of the social housing program, reported Al Borsa News.
In the Wahat area, 42,700 units are set to be built for EGP 16 billion, said Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.
Approximately 70% of the construction work for the project has been completed, added Mabdouly.
Other infrastructure work is currently underway in the city, such as road development and expanding the water plant capacity.
Road development will include the replacement of all surface intersections with bridges and expanding the South Dahshour road for a total cost of EGP 2.1 billion.
“The second phase of the water plant in 6th of October City, which will have a capacity of 400,000 cubic metres per day, is being implemented and is scheduled to enter operation in 2018,” said Madbouly.
“The plant will meet the needs of the expansion projects and support development projects in the city, as well as feed all social housing project areas.”
The estimated cost of the water plant is EGP 2.7 billion and is to be implemented over four phases.
