Officials from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) have signed a consultancy contract between the two entities at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities in the New Administrative Capital, Invest-Gate reports.
The contract aims to initiate the necessary consultancy services for establishing an integrated and smart public transportation system that aligns with the sustainability strategy for bus rapid transit (BRT) between the 6th of October City and Giza Governorate.
Furthermore, the signing ceremony was attended by Wael Shaaban, Assistant to the Deputy Chairman of NUCA for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Eman Nabil, Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Housing for Urban Development and Cities, Ahmed Shawky, Head of the Public Transport Regulation Unit at NUCA, and representatives from the consultancy office.
During the contract signing, NUCA officials emphasized that this step aligns with the ongoing directives of Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to establish and support the sustainability strategy for bus rapid transit between new cities and capital cities.
Moreover, Nabil explained that the contract was signed within the framework of agreements concluded between the Ministry of International Cooperation and the International Swedish Fund, which provided a grant to the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities to fund the necessary consultancy services for conducting integration studies between all modes of transportation in the cities of 6th of October, Hadayek October, and New October.
