The Board of Directors of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), in a meeting chaired by Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, approved the financial position list and final accounts of NUCA for the fiscal year 2023/2024, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by several members in person, while others participated via video conference.
The meeting also reviewed a report on NUCA’s achievements from the start of its operations until the end of June.
El Sherbini noted that the total number of housing units implemented by NUCA since its establishment until the end of June amounted to approximately 1.4 million units in new cities and tourist villages. This includes 376,000 housing units completed by June 2014 and 1,085,000 units implemented from July 2014 until the end of June 2024.
Eng. Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of NUCA for the Utilities, Networks, and plants Maintenance Sector, explained that in the area of service projects, 4,161 service buildings have been completed or are under construction as of the end of June 2024. This includes 1,449 buildings completed by June 2014 and 2,712 buildings constructed or under construction since July 2014 (2,258 buildings completed and 454 buildings currently in progress).
Ghoneim added that in the field of infrastructure, drinking water services have included the implementation of 24 water purification plants with a total capacity of 4.75 million m³/day, as well as 7 seawater desalination plants with a total capacity of 352,000 m³/day.
Additionally, 13 water purification plants are under implementation, expansion, and rehabilitation, with a total capacity of 2.32 million m³/day. The Marbella desalination plant, with a capacity of 2,000 m³/day, is also under construction, alongside the New Administrative Capital water plant, which has a capacity of 450,000 m³/day (first phase).
Furthermore, replacement and renovation works are ongoing for some drinking water pumping plants in the new cities. This water is distributed through networks that have been implemented with a total length of approximately 20,480 km, while an additional 2,020 km of water networks are currently under construction.
