CEO of Ora Developers Haitham Mohamed commented, “We are very excited to be bringing some of the best football clubs in the world to compete in Egypt for the first time, especially when we are focusing on the youth who have so much talent to offer. This is a historical moment in Egypt, and we are delighted to be kicking off the first edition of the tournament at our new ZED Park, giving the public a chance to discover what we’re offering, including our fully equipped sports complex. This is only the beginning and we are looking forward to many more events at ZED Park.”
The opening match took place right after the ceremony at ZED’s fully equipped new sports complex. A total of twelve teams will compete throughout the championship which will last five days until August 30.
On August 29, a friendly match between ZED’s official football team will be played in front of scouts coming from Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco football clubs, for a chance to recruit young Egyptian athletes to play professionally. Moreover, the establishment of the ZED team paves the way for young Egyptian footballers to potentially join Egypt’s National Team U20.
A closing ceremony will be held following the final game to award the winning team with the first ZED Club’s Cup.
