Ora Developers unveiled the first edition of its ZED Club’s Cup football tournament on August 25 at the newly-launched ZED Park, west Cairo, under the auspices of Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Invest-Gate reports.

The tournament, which was organized by Z Bling Effect, witnessed a “fierce competition” between the U13 teams of some of the world’s biggest football clubs, who have gathered in Egypt for the first time in history, according to a recent press statement.

The inauguration of ZED Club’s Cup took place in Marriott Mena House and was attended by iconic Egyptian football players including Ahmed Belal, Mohamed Shawky, Walid Salah El-Din, and Emad Meteb, as well as, Board Member of Al Ahly Club Mohamed El Garhi and Board Member of Shooting Club Mohamed El Shawrkawy. Additionally, TV host Seif Zaher presented the draw event and has been revealed as a member of the technical committee, together with prominent sports figures Hazem Emam and Ahmed Hossam Mido.

CEO of Ora Developers Haitham Mohamed commented, “We are very excited to be bringing some of the best football clubs in the world to compete in Egypt for the first time, especially when we are focusing on the youth who have so much talent to offer. This is a historical moment in Egypt, and we are delighted to be kicking off the first edition of the tournament at our new ZED Park, giving the public a chance to discover what we’re offering, including our fully equipped sports complex. This is only the beginning and we are looking forward to many more events at ZED Park.”

The opening match took place right after the ceremony at ZED’s fully equipped new sports complex. A total of twelve teams will compete throughout the championship which will last five days until August 30.

On August 29, a friendly match between ZED’s official football team will be played in front of scouts coming from Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco football clubs, for a chance to recruit young Egyptian athletes to play professionally. Moreover, the establishment of the ZED team paves the way for young Egyptian footballers to potentially join Egypt’s National Team U20.

A closing ceremony will be held following the final game to award the winning team with the first ZED Club’s Cup.
